Panasonic Dect 6.0 Black Metallic Cordless Phone with Answering Machine

I bought the phone based on all the positive reviews here. My son dumped the base unit and a handset in the sink; I dried both out. The base unit recovered but the handset screen turned blank (though it still works). It would seem to be relatively straightforward to design these to be waterproof.

The phone, because of all its options, should come with as many user manuals as the number of handsets provided. I had to make copies of the manual for each handset. There is no easy way to retrieve messages from the handset without knowing the specific code for listening to messages. And then there is a different code for deleting those messages. The system needs to be more user friendly.
I would not recommend this product to anyone else. Unfortunately, I am stuck with this unit for the next several years. Too bad it’s too late to return.

I received this phone last week and am really impressed. I do have one concern that I will address with Amazon. I bought and paid for model KX-TG6444, however, according to the handsets and phone base, I received model #KX-TG6441, a much cheaper model. Anyone else have this as an issue?
I really like the call block, silent ringer, the alarm, now that was a nifty feature, and coding the phone to identify frequent callers. However, I dom’t want to pay for a model I didn’t get. I think you will not be disappointed in this phone system and I would highly recommend it and give it 5 stars when the model issue is settled.

If you are in a hurry, please go to the second paragraph. I am a very old solid oak crank phone made by a company some of you may never have heard about: Western Electric. I am about 100 years old and still work quite well. My crank has no use now since all the phones are driven by electricity and don’t need a crank. If you call me, however, you will hear a clear and strong voice on the other end.
The old folks who bought me from a few years ago decided it was time to go first class and bought a DECT 6.0 and talk about a change. With me you are limited to the length of my cord when talking to another person. With DECT you have the entire lot and then some without a cord. The voice quality is superb even when the wireless router is going full steam. They had 2.4Gz phones and when connected to the internet via the router there was a major degradation of quality. Not now.
Every feature mentioned in the advertisement works well and quite useful. Best of all is the caller block. After a few minutes of button punching unwanted callers are no longer visiting over the telephone. (Editorial comment: As a nation we were inundated with a so called “Do Not Call” list. Few will say it works well but then again what else associated with the government works well. We have to renew our do not call status and we keep getting calls from folks who we do not want to hear from but now and with this feature those callers can be cut off once and for all. Or until they find a way to circumvent the technology or get the government to grant them access.)
Bottom line: a tad pricey but worth every penny. If it will last then it will be a fantastic buy.

Our new phones are working just fine. The voice announcements are not so clear but it is nice to be able to hear in from a distance.
